The Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit, has described Senator Diket Plang as a grateful and loyal statesman whose return to the traditional institution demonstrates his appreciation for those who supported his political journey.
According Wukaska Bako Gowon Media Office, Ngolong Ngas Palace, The monarch spoke on Thursday, September 10, 2026, when Senator Plang, accompanied by members of his campaign team and political associates, paid a homage visit to the Ngolong Ngas Palace.
Speaking on behalf of his Cabinet and the entire Pankshin and Kanke Joint Traditional Council, the Ngolong Ngas likened Senator Plang to the biblical lepers who returned to give thanks after receiving healing.
He said the Senator's decision to return to the Palace to express appreciation was evidence of his character as a politician who recognizes and values the sacrifices and support that contributed to his emergence and election to represent Plateau Central Senatorial District.
The monarch congratulated Senator Plang for his contributions to the National Assembly, particularly his interventions and eloquent participation in legislative debates.
He expressed optimism that as the Senator's four-year tenure draws to a close, God would open another avenue of service for him to continue contributing to the development of Plateau State and Nigeria.
The Ngolong Ngas also commended members of Senator Plang's campaign team for their steadfastness, loyalty and sacrifices during the last electioneering period.
He urged them to remain united and continue to support the Senator, stressing that unity, loyalty and perseverance remain essential ingredients for enduring political relevance.
Earlier, Senator Diket Plang expressed profound gratitude to the Ngolong Ngas and the Traditional Council for their prayers, support and fatherly guidance throughout his political career.
Plang said, as a bona fide son of the Chiefdom, he had attained the maturity and experience required to return home and appreciate the traditional institution and the people for the opportunity entrusted to him.
He extended his appreciation to the entire people of Plateau Central for the confidence and trust reposed in him over the years.
Recounting his political journey, Senator Plang highlighted his decades of public service, including his tenure as a Councillor in the former Pankshin Local Government, now comprising Pankshin and Kanke; Commissioner in the Plateau State Executive Council; Member representing Pankshin North in the Plateau State House of Assembly; Special Adviser to two Plateau State Governors; and his service as Senator representing Plateau Central.
On recent developments within the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Plang said his tenure as Senator had come to an end in accordance with the party's arrangements.
He, however, pledged his commitment to working for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The Senator emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork within the party, warning members against actions capable of creating division, confusion and unnecessary conflict.
On his legislative experience and deliverables, Plang argued that experience and ranking remain critical assets in the National Assembly.
He urged stakeholders to look beyond the principle of political rotation when choosing representatives, maintaining that legislators should be given sufficient time to acquire the experience necessary to attract meaningful development to their constituencies.
He cited legislators who have served in the National Assembly since 1979 as examples of how legislative experience can be leveraged to attract landmark projects and interventions.
Senator Plang disclosed that the Bill he sponsored for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Kanke, had been passed by the National Assembly and was awaiting presidential assent.
He also announced plans to distribute Hilux vehicles to security agencies across Plateau State through the relevant ministries as part of his contribution towards strengthening security in the state.
Plang said he remained fulfilled with the mandate entrusted to him and assured the Ngolong Ngas and the people of Plateau Central that he would continue to advocate and lobby for development projects and opportunities for the zone and Plateau State at large.
