Waplang said recent utterances by the PDP governorship candidate and other opposition politicians were a clear indication that the opposition was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the performance of the present administration.
He therefore urged the people of Plateau not to allow political propaganda to overshadow the visible development taking place across the state under Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated that governance is about delivering tangible results to the people and not merely making promises during election campaigns.
Waplang cited the administration’s massive investment in road infrastructure, saying both urban and rural roads are being constructed across the state, opening up communities, improving transportation and stimulating economic activities.
He said the administration’s achievements are equally evident in the education sector, where Governor Mutfwang, according to him, has constructed 397 classrooms, renovated 557 classrooms and distributed 33,685 sets of furniture to improve the learning environment for Plateau children.
“These are not campaign promises. These are interventions that the people can see and feel in their communities,” Waplang stated.
He also highlighted the administration’s commissioning and distribution of a fleet of vehicles for educational purposes, describing the initiative as part of efforts to strengthen government institutions and improve service delivery across the state.
Waplang said the growing record of infrastructure and social-sector interventions makes the opposition’s attempts to discredit the administration increasingly difficult to sustain.
He accused some political actors of being more interested in the failure of government than in the progress of Plateau State, alleging that they would rather see the state “burn” than witness the dividends of democracy being delivered by the Mutfwang administration.
According to him, “those who could not deliver should not be allowed to rewrite history or deceive the people with political propaganda.”
The Plateau Central coordinator urged the electorate to scrutinise the records of political parties and candidates before making their choices in 2027, insisting that the election should not be reduced to political sentiments, ethnic calculations or propaganda.
He called on supporters of Governor Mutfwang to remain resolute and continue communicating the administration’s achievements to the people, saying Plateau deserves continuity rather than a return to politics of empty promises and failed expectations.
Waplang maintained that Governor Mutfwang has a covenant with the people of Plateau and should be given the opportunity to consolidate the ongoing transformation of the state.
He therefore appealed to citizens across the 17 local government areas to reject what he termed “political deception disguised as opposition politics” and stand behind an administration he said had chosen development, infrastructure and human capital investment as the foundation of its governance agenda.
