Group has called on Letep Dabang to Resign

TEXT OF A PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY CONCERNED APC PATRIOTS OVER THE CONTINUES STAY OF CHIEF LETEP DABANG AS PLATEAU APC CHAIRMAN DESPITE HIS OPENED DECLARATION FOR THE GOVERNORHIP SEAT READ BY COMRADE SATI TANKO TODAY THE 3RD OF JUNE, 2021

Gentlemen of the Press,

It is with utmost respect to all members of the All Progressive Congress on the Plateau and lovers of Democracy nationwide that we address this Press Conference on issues bothering on the continuous stay of Chief Letep Dabang, the APC Acting State Chairman of Plateau State who has not only declared to contest for the Plateau State Governorship seat but has shown total disdain and disrespect to the collective will of the party's mechanism and it's functions as distinguished by the founding fathers of our great party.

First, Letep Dabang has not only spent two terms as APC State Chairman but was added some more months in acting capacity. His leadership has been characterize with serious calamity and maladministration with the party Secretariat locked with padlock for fear of being questioned by our teaming followership who have lost the usual fanfares obtained in ruling parties Secretariat. Ours have been a sorrowful sight which has made mockery of our Party that is been ran by Chief Letep Dabang as “Letep Dabang Foundation” or personal Investment. No wonder, the opposition PDP Secretariat is daily filled with activities than that of the APC. What a travesty!!!

Secondly, the bad blood sown by Chief Letep Dabang amongst Party members through his self-dictatorial leadership is enough to remove him as State Party Chairman if truly the Party intents to maintain its wining streaks on the Plateau.

So much of his self-proclaimed Masquerade has darkened the Party's chances if allowed to continue.

Thirdly, he seems to dislike the leader of the Party in the state, the Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong because the Governor has refused to be dictated to and for not accepting his dangerous script on appointments as he has planned to use them in his gubernatorial ambition for the 2023 elections.

Fourthly, Letep Dabang should account for the money collected as form charges that were collected from aspirants and candidates of the APC in the last Local Government Election or resign. Failure to do so will make us to mobilize congress to march to the leader of the APC on the Plateau (the Governor) to demand for his immediate removal.

Finally, Chief Letep Dabang must resign or forced out of office as he cannot be a Judge in his own case. Since he has openly declared his ambition to contest for the Governorship seat, it is only fair that he resigns or be forced out for a fair, credible and clean leadership to emerge who would give justice, fairness and credibility to all contestants including Chief Letep Dabang himself.

“On Justice we stand and he who wants justice must come to equity with clean hands”.

Thank you and God bless.

PLATEAU GOVERNMENT WEEDS OUT 532 WORKERS OVER FALSIFIED RECORDS.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong has vowed to continue to rid the civil service of the staff who have questionable records or are found to have tampered with their records. This is even as 532 staff with questionable records have so far been removed from the State payroll after an investigation using the
BVN system.

Governor Lalong disclosed this during a policy retreat for Permanent Secretaries held at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS Kuru said the exercise will continue as those found culpable will face disciplinary proceedings.

He said "I am aware of the huge manpower gaps that exist in the Plateau State civil service because of years of unemployment. With the setting up of the Nde John Gobak Committee on the Verification and Audit of Staff strength, we will address these issues once the committee completes its assignment and submits its report. Already, about 532 names have been removed from Government payroll after an investigation using the BVN system revealed inconsistencies in their records. Some had falsified their ages or tampered with their records. Others could not appear to answer queries on such records"

Lalong told the Permanent Secretaries that the State is today facing continuous decline in revenues from FAAC which makes it very necessary to generate more revenue internally to meet the yearnings of the people. This he said necessitated  priority spending on areas that will yield revenues in all MDAs as well as the blocking of leakages in the system.

He also reminded the Permanent Secretaries that Government business in Plateau State is now driven by ICT and as such, they must not only be proficient, but also mentor all civil servants in utilizing ICT for carrying out their day-to-day schedules.

Head of Service Plateau State, Engr.
Sunday Chong Hyat said the Policy Retreat became necessary because of the appointment of 14 new Permanent Secretaries and the fact that the last exercise was held in 2015.

He said as accounting officers of various MDAs, the Permanent Secretaries have been equipped with relevant knowledge to enforce discipline and good conduct in line with extant rules and regulations of the civil service.

Lead consultant, Mr. Ezekiel Gomos and the Head of Component, Policy and Strategy GIZ/SEDIN Mr. Akin Omoware  said the retreat provided a very strategic opportunity for Government to build the capacity of the top echelon of its workforce who will drive the reforms in the State and lead in programme implementation and project execution.

They advocated for more of such trainings to build workers capacity and enable the Government deliver on its mandate to the people.

Director of Press & Public Affairs to the
Governor of Plateau State.
