DEPUTY CHAIRMAN,TWENTY COUNCILORS TAKE OATH OF OFFICE IN KANAM LGC.

Deputy Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council,Haruna Bala and Councilors representing the twenty wards of the LGA have been sworn in.

In his speech Executive Chairman of the council,Alhaji (DR) Dayyabu Yusuf Garga charged them to be upright and shun all forms of political rivalry that could derail the wheel of progress of the LGA.

He said the place of law making in a democracy is one that covers the wishes and aspirations of the people as well as focus on peace as an ingredient for societal development.

Garga said as such the legislators must connect with the people they represent directly and ensure their challenges are given top most priority.

While assuring the legislators of a smooth working relationship with the executive,the Chairman further reiterated his desire to govern the people in love.

Administering the oath of office on the Deputy Chairman and Councilors,Chief Magistrate of Kanam LGA,Justice Eric Naron admonished them to see the trust bestowed on them by the electorates as a selfless task that must be sustained and accomplished.

Good will message came from His Royal Highness,The Emir of Kanam,Alhaji Mohammad Muazu Muhammadu the second who appealed to the legislators to prioritize preaching peaceful coexistence among their people and watch out for strangers that may want to infiltrate their communities and disrupt the peace being enjoyed.

I wish to first and foremost express my gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting
me this rare opportunity to witness this day in good health.

May I also thank the ever-loving, peaceful and hospitable people of Kanam LGA for the confidence they have reposed in me and my team by giving to us this mandate to serve them for the next three years Insha Allah.

I am very optimistic this contract we have come into will not in any way lead us astray but will solidify our collective will to transform Kanam and place on the right pedestal opportunities for our teaming people to thrive.

I am of the firm belief that our sacrifices and prayers shall be rewarded and our desires achieved through share commitment and understanding of our common goals.

We are coming with the zeal to serve and not be served. To manage the common will of our people through synergy with all the arms of Government at that level and touch the nooks and crannies of our dear Kanam LGA.

At this moment, we cannot afford to go back, digress or miss on the wheel to drive down governance to our people knowing where we are coming from and where we are going to.

Together with my team, we shall by the grace of Almighty Allah open up the space for an inclusive style of leadership with the support of all, irrespective of religious, political, cultural and other affiliations for with such we shall drive Kanam into the comity of LGAs with uncommon qualities.

The traditional, political, religious and cultural classes will play a role in advancing this course, as such we shall be open to constructive engagements as our desire is for a good Kanam LGA.

A special thank you to His Excellency Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, The Executive Governor Of Plateau State for ensuring this opportunity came and has fulfilled his promise.

May God continue to bless our dear State and people.

GOVERNOR LALONG GREETS GBONG GWOM JOS AT 70

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba CON as he marks his 70th birthday. 

Governor Lalong in a message described the attainment of the landmark age of 70 by the Royal Father as a momentous ocasssion that calls for celebration and Thanksgiving to God. 

Lalong said the Gbong Gwom has recieved special grace from God for a successful career where he rose through the ranks to the pinnacle of the Nigeria Customs Service and upon retirement, was given the privilege to ascend the historic throne of the Berom nation where he has continued to provide leadership to the entire State Traditional Institution. 

The Governor also acknowledges the role that the Gbong Gwom has also played in the efforts of the Northern Traditional Council through solid contributions in finding peace, harmony and economic development of the region. 

He thanks him for also supporting the Government in Plateau towards dealing with insecurity and restoring peace, particularly during recent attacks that attempted to set back the achievements of the last six years. 

Governor Lalong wishes him many more years of peace, good health and God's protection.
