In other to keep to the directive of his The Excellency Governor, Simon Bako Lalong declaring monday and tuesday next week as work free days in Plateau State,Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council,,Dayyabu Yusuf Garga has directed all appointees of the LGA to move down to the grassroots and mobilize unregistered voters so as to have a smooth exercise.

He has further directed them to work in close synergy with elected and other stakeholders to ensure people are educated and mobilized on the need to have their permanent voters cards as the next general elections approaches.

Thus he has also directed staff of the Local Government Council to utilize the period granted by Government to register or ensure they are up to date with their registrations by addressing any other issue they have with their PVCs as that will guarantee their participation in choosing leaders tomorrow.

According to the Council Chairman "We cannot allow this opportunity to slip off our hands as His Excellency The Governor has harkened to the cry of electorates in the State by granting this request,Kanam is one LGA that from reports still has quite a number of people that have not registered,have reached voting age or have one or two issues to rectify in respect of their PVS as such we are working closely with INEC to see that the exercise is successful in Kanam.I will keep a close look and create the enabling environment for the agency to attend to our people seamlessly".

He added that he will personally lead a team that will supervise the event within the two days specified by Government.

He called on religious and traditional leaders to further educate their subjects to cash in on this opportunity and get registered as it is also a civic duty towards entrenching good governance in our society.

Dayyabu Garga called for mass sensitization to citizens of Kanam to know that the exercise is not a fresh registration rather a continuous one for those who had never been registered or those who may have issues with their registration processes warning that double registration will be detected by the machines and such person's votes rejected by the machines during voting.

He then warned staff that the authority will not condone those who would not take advantage of this window period but only to begin exempting themselves from work under the guise of going to get registered saying such acts will not go without appropriate sanctions.

Executive Chairman of Langtang South Local Government,Prince Vincent Venman Bulus has been charged to continue to accord women their rightful place as he carries out his political activities.

Wives of Local Government Chairmen in Plateau State through their umbrella body WALGON ,stated this when they paid a congratulatory visit to the Chairman over his emergence as flag bearer of the APC for Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

Speaking during the congratulatory visit,WALGON Chairperson in Plateau State,Regina Na'antuan said Prince Venman's track records has placed him in the hearts of the people as such his emergence did not come to them as a surprised.

Regina Na'antuam who is also wife of the Executive Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council and ALGON Chairman in the State,Miskoom Alex Na'antuam said the visit was unique as two of the serving LGA Chairmen emerged flag bearers therefore the need for them be identified with and supported as they go into the general elections.

She assured the Chairman of their willingness to mobilize women to throw in their support for them as they believe they will carry women along.

Responding,Executive Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Council and flag bearer for the Langtang North and South Federal Constituency under the APC,Prince Vincent Venman Bulus thanked wives of Local Government Chairmen for the visit which he described as historic and encouraging.

He said women are key in every sphere of governance that is why he chose a woman to be his running mate and today she is the Deputy Chairman of Langtang South LGC.

Venman Bulus commended the women for their steadfastness pointing out that he is ever ready to go into the contest as he has a clear blueprint for the constituency and will do everything possible to keep to it.

He the promised to work with them onwards so as to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

The congratulatory visit was one of those visits by the Association to flag bearers of the party from among the Local Government Chairmen who contested.

In building the bridges of peace and unity,one must bring to the fore the realities of issues as they are and evolve means of addressing them.

This was the strategy Hon.Dr.Dayyabu Yusuf Garga has used to return Kanam LGA and its people to a center point which today has been termed a referral point by other LGAs in plateau state and beyond.

For those conversant with the diverse nature religiously,politically and culturally of the people of Kanam then indeed will know leading such an LGA requires a very sound and intellectual person without an inch of bias in him.

Dr.Dayyabu Yusuf Garga,the Walin Garga and Galadiman Jhar no doubt very conversant with such dynamics immediately delved into addressing those salient issues of diversity when he assumed office after his election and subsequent swearing in.

So much to say that he toured the nooks and crannies of the LGA and interfaced with the various interests with the aim of once more having first hand knowledge of the challenges as well as wishes and aspirations of his people.

His constant interactions with the people at the grassroots brought out the immediate and desired needs of his people which today can be seen being addressed gradually and to the joy of the people.

Not deterred by the set back as a result of the recent attack on his people where over one hundred lives were lost with a span of 24hrs,Hon Dayyabu Yusuf Garga stood as a pillar to rally round by his people who were in grief and offered his shoulder for them to cry on.

His ability to mobilize leaders across political,religious and ethnic divides thereby leading to a "ONE KANAM" brought about so much succor to the people who today are back on their feet and looking forward to a bright future.

In his words "I took an oath of office to protect my people the best way I can so I will stop at nothing to ensure I do that which I swore to which is to stand by my people through thick and thin".

Today politically Kanam people most especially of the APC divide can best ne described as a solid rock that cannot be divided with the understanding and resolve to clear the barriers of division and closing of ranks between major power blocks.

Kanam LGA has today politically become the envy of all and a darling for politicians as it will be a major area in delivering block votes to everyone who desires to be ahead politically.

Today with development being spread across the area despite lean resources,Kanam as the pride of all will continue to define itself among the comity of LGAs.
