Why Senator Joshua Dariye is the Right Choice for APC National Chairman

By WALBE ORGAK

At a time when the All Progressives Congress (APC) needs strong, visionary leadership to reposition the party for future success, the potential candidacy of Senator Joshua Dariye offers a rare and timely opportunity. His emergence is not just welcome—it is essential for the unity, strength, and credibility of the party.

Senator Dariye is no stranger to governance or political leadership. With a rich legacy that spans decades, including his service as a two-term governor and a distinguished senator, he brings unmatched experience, a deep understanding of Nigeria’s political terrain, and the wisdom to steer the APC through challenging times. His track record of navigating complex political environments and building consensus makes him uniquely qualified to lead the party at the national level.

Crucially, Senator Dariye represents a symbol of inclusion and national integration. As a respected leader from Plateau State in the Middle Belt, his candidacy aligns perfectly with the APC’s zoning principles and offers a chance to give voice to regions that are often underrepresented in national leadership. His presence at the helm would signal a commitment to fairness, regional balance, and grassroots connection.

But beyond regional considerations, what truly sets Senator Dariye apart is his reputation as a bridge-builder. At a time when internal unity is vital for the APC’s future, he is widely seen as a leader who can bring factions together, mediate disputes, and restore harmony within the party. His calm demeanor, strategic insight, and inclusive leadership style are the qualities the APC urgently needs.

Moreover, his candidacy is a chance to rebrand the APC with a clear, inclusive, and people-centered agenda. With the right platform and messaging, Senator Dariye can help the party reconnect with its base, expand its reach across diverse communities, and regain public trust ahead of future elections.

Critics may raise concerns, but leadership is about growth, resilience, and vision. Senator Dariye has weathered political storms, emerged stronger, and continues to command respect across party lines. That is the mark of a tested and trusted leader.

For the APC to move forward with confidence, credibility, and cohesion, it needs a chairman who understands both the internal workings of the party and the broader expectations of the Nigerian people. Senator Joshua Dariye fits that profile perfectly.

This is more than a political endorsement—it is a call to action. The APC has a golden opportunity to choose a leader who embodies experience, unity, and national representation. That leader is Senator Joshua Dariye.

FORMER CPC MEMBERS ENDORSE SEN. DARIYE FOR APC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

By WALBE ORGAK
The Forum of Defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) State Working Committee/LGA Chairmen, Plateau State Chapter, has unanimously endorsed Senator Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye (PhD) for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by the Forum Chairman Rev. Dr. David Joseph Dabit Nankobinfa and the secretary Alh. Aminu Mohammed. At a meeting held on July 8, 2025, the forum, comprising loyal party faithfuls of the APC, threw their unreserved support behind Senator Dariye, citing his impressive track record as a former Governor, Senator, academician, philanthropist, and leader par excellence.

"We believe that giving him this opportunity will be a masterstroke for the APC, not just in Plateau State but across Nigeria, come 2027," the forum stated.

The group urged the Plateau State chapter of the APC to immediately support Senator Dariye's candidacy, expressing confidence that their voices would be heard for the progress of the party in the state and the country.

WELLDONE, AND BEST WISHES, RT. HON RT. HON. GABRIEL. DEWAN

By Ayuba, Yilgak'ha
Bravo, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Kudangbena Dewan. The suff you are made of, and and your innate leadership capabilities have been clearly revealed. While you held sway as Speaker PSHA, you distinguished yourself, no doubt!

By resigning at this moment, you have acted wisely. The wisdom you exhibited is evident in view of the adage that says: *Quit when the ovation is loudest!*

You, arguably, led the most united and relatively rancour free House following the inauguration of the State Assembly in 2023, and your resignation now is, perhaps, the honourable in Plateau political history so far!

In terms of tripartite responsibilities of  legislation, representation, and oversight for which Legislative Assemblies are statutorily charged with at all levels of democratic governance, Plateau State House of Assembly, and the State as a whole, did not fare badly under your legistlative watch, and this is most commendable!

For serving the people well, you have, strategically, positioned yourself for greater greater visibility, engagements and representations, going forward!

The feelers from people is favourable, and the love from them is pure and organic. You can feel, see and touch the affection!

The last of you is yet to be heard and, in faith, i believe in the adage that reads: *'It can only gets better', for you!*

Welldone, Rt. Hon. This is, certainly, not the end for you, but beginning of an interesting journey in the game of politics!

As a Minority Whip, you are still a Principal Officer in the House. I congratulate you, and Hon. Joseph Gokum who emerged Majority, on your new roles!

Yesterday, there was traffic on social Media, even now on your generous donations toward infrastructure development in a school and payments of school fees of students, especially orphans, in your Constituency. This goes to show that whether as Speaker or not, your best is still what you want to give. This is heart warming!

Oh yes, it is true that power is transient, but the heart that serves is a constant. 'If you see something', they say, 'say something', and 'if you do not have something good to say about somebody, the advice is, 'shut up', also. Keep it up, Rt. Hon Dewan Gabriel Kudangbena!

May God make the remaining years of your present mandate eventful, and guide Rt. Hon. Na'anlong Daniel Gabyil, your successor as Speaker. May our various constituencies, Plateau, Nigeria and humanity succeed in holistic development!

*(Modest Thoughts with Ayuba, Yilgak'ha, 10th July, 2025)*

SEN. DARIYE'S CONDOLENCES TO SEN. DIKET PLANG & FAMILY

It is with a heavy heart, on behalf of my family, friends, associates and well-wishers, commiserate with the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Senator Diket Plang, his entire family and Professor Monday Mangvwat over the irreparable loss of their dear wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, mother in law, sister and daughter, Professor Janet Plang which took place yesterday at Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Janet's death is not only a loss to her family, but to Plateau State and the entire country considering her remarkable direct and indirect contributions to the progress of the education sector at the University level and democracy in the country.

Suffice me to commend her for building a viable and virile home for her children and husband and leaving behind the legacies of sound motherhood and wifey.
She paid her dues in serving the nation through grooming countless students in the Universities of Jos, PLASU and Baze, through positively impacting great knowledge on them at all levels, and has been a role model in commitment to duties and disposition.
Her support for her husband in the pursuit of his political ambitions has greatly spurred him into achieving several feats, winning diverse elective positions, securing several political appointments and now representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

I call on the Plangs to see Janet's death as an act of God who gives and takes away life, and take comfort in her legacies and God who comforts us in times of sorrows.

May the Almighty God comfort and grant you the serenity and grace to bear the irreparable loss and may her soul rest in peace in the bossom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Signed:
Senator Joshua Dariye JP, MBA, MA(Law & Diplomacy) Ph.D

PROF. PATRICK DAKUM COMMISERATES WITH SEN. DIKET PLANG OVER THE DEMISE OF HIS WIFE

The Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, IHVN, and Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health, School of Medicine Maryland University, Baltimore USA, Patrick Sunday Dakum, sends his heartfelt sympathy and empathy to the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Diket Plang, over the death of his wife Professor Janet Plang, which ensued yester-night at the Jos University Teaching Hospital over protracted ailment.

Dakum called on the senator and his entire family to see her death as an act of God, as they did everything humanly possible to secure her healing but to no avail.
He commended Diket for standing by his wife and showing her all the love a husband should as he did everything possible to the extent of taking her overseas for treatment; saying her death takes a great toll on him, but he should take heart knowing that the Almighty God is with him and his family at this moment of great loss and grief.

According to him, to depart with love ones through death is uneasy, but we have a sure consolation that the death of a believer in Christ is rest, and also the good Lord has promised to be with us in our trying moments; adding that his strength is made perfect in our weakness, saying he will not leave or forsake us. In these he exhorted, the Plangs should take consolation in God, as he is fully in control to heal all wounds, mend broken hearts and comfort us.

Dakum beseeches the Plangs to also see Janet's departure from the world as rest having completed her God's given task, and to take consolation in the legacies of motherhood, wifey and lecturing she left behind, which greatly spurred their attainment to greatness in the pursuit of their lives' endeavours, and nation building.

He commended the deceased for bearing the torch 'For Light and Truth', the motto of her secondary school alma mata in all her undertakings, and for contributing hugely in the development and progress of the education sector through grooming so many students both at her station, University of Jos, Plateau State University Bokkos where she did her sabbatical leave and Baze University where she was lecturing on leave of absence.

Dakum further eulogized her for standing firm by her husband in fostering democracy in the state and the nation at large where he held many different elective positions and his rise to the senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly.
He praised Janet for grooming her children well, adding that she did everything possible to live an exemplary life to her family, students, the church and others who looked up to her.

The former Commissioner of Information and Health prayed the Almighty God to comfort and grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.
