LEADERSHIP TRIUMVIRATE: ASAMA, GAGDI, AND DIKET AMAZING REPRESENTATIONS

These three dynamic politicians have been making significant contributions to Plateau State's growth and development at the National Assembly.

Monitoring recent Legislatives trends and developments across Plateau State, prominent figures Hon. Yusufu Gagdi, Hon. Amb. Asama and Diket Plang have been making waves in the political and social spheres. Their accomplishment in addressing community needs and driving progress and fostering a sense of unity and purpose in their respective constituency is commendable.

Grassroots News believe that the combined efforts of these legislatures are creating a positive impact on the people. Their dedication to attracting development, coupled with their ability to galvanize support, has earned them widespread respect and admiration. Their actions serve as a catalyst for positive change.

AMB HON. DANIEL AGO ASAMA.

For the one year he has spent in the National Assembly as the member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, his positive impact is undeniable, a man of unquestionable character who has demonstrated an uncommon passion to serve his people.

Hon. Asama's who join the 10th House of Representatives on the 8th day of February 2024 his influence and vision for one year of impactful representation are shaped by his determined and committed to serving his constituents; he has been focused on making a positive contribution to the transformation in the lives of his people.

Asama's vision is centered on effective representation, which involves being a strong voice for his constituents and working tirelessly to address their needs. His influence extends beyond his constituency, as he contributes to the legislative process and collaborates with fellow lawmakers to drive positive change.

In his first year, after overcoming legal challenges at the tribunal Asama aims to make a meaningful impact by amplifying the voices of his constituents, ensuring that their concerns and needs are heard and addressed at the national level, driving development and growth, working to attract investments, projects, and initiatives that promote economic growth and development in his constituency, fostering collaboration and unity, building bridges across party lines and working with stakeholders to promote the interests of his constituents and the nation at large.

Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago, Member of the House of Representatives representing the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, has marked his first year in office with a strong record of service and advocacy.  He has proven to be a dedicated voice for his constituents, actively engaging in key legislative processes and bringing critical issues to the forefront.

Hon Asama has introduced nine bills aimed at addressing pressing national and constituency concerns. These bills reflect his commitment to tackling key issues affecting the lives of his people.  He has also actively participated in fourteen National Assembly Committees, ensuring that the voice of his constituents is heard on a wide range of issues.

Beyond legislation, Hon. Asama has been a vocal advocate for his community. He has raised three major matters of public importance: community policing, incessant fire outbreaks on Katako Market of Jos North, the recent Main Market inferno which destroy over 400 shops, and the school building collapse in Jos North. By highlighting these issues, he has brought much-needed attention to critical concerns affecting the well-being of his constituents.

The following are some 14 notable activities which are aimed at empowering as well as alleviating the hardship face by his constituency include: Distribution of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to alleviate the hardship faced by our vulnerable citizens, Seed funding for 200 market women, empowering small businesses and improving economic sustainability, provision of fertilizers to farmers, boosting agricultural productivity and food security, donation of sewing machines and grinding machines to constituents, enhancing skill acquisition and self-reliance, distribution of reading tables, writing materials, school bags, and sandals to vulnerable pupils, promoting education at the grassroots level, payment of WAEC & NECO fees for 600 students, reducing the financial burden on parents and ensuring brighter futures for our young minds, providing international exposure for 40 football talents, opening doors of opportunity for our youth in global sports, strengthening community security by networking the Community Police, Hunters, and Vigilante Groups, thereby improving safety across our communities, construction of classroom blocks in Rukuba, fostering better learning environments for students, facilitating employment opportunities for youths into the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, and Nigerian Army, creating employment networking channels for youths into the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Nigeria Correctional Service.

Amb Hon. Daniel Ago Asama is an individual who feels the welfare and comfort of the people comes first, a unique fellow who feels the right and privileges of the common man must be accorded him, a brother who feels power comes from the people and they deserve the best from leadership.

Hon. Asama's dedication to serving his community is evident in his proactive approach to representing his constituents. His first year in office which was also marked judicial challenges at the Election Petition Tribunal has shown him to be a dedicated legislator, committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those he represents.

HON. YUSUFU GAGDI

Hon. Yusufu Gagdi, known for his active role in public discourse, continues to champion initiatives aimed at constituency development, women and youth empowerment.

Yusuf Adamu Gagdi is a dynamic and multifaceted individual whose personality reflects a blend of ambition, compassion, and dedication In moments of challenge or adversity, Yusuf remains resilient and optimistic. He understands that setbacks are a natural part of life and views them as opportunities for growth. This positive outlook enables him to navigate difficult times with grace, often emerging stronger and more determined than before. His resilience serves as an inspiration to those who may struggle with similar challenges.

Gagdi's journey in politics began with his election to the Plateau State House of Assembly in 2015, where he served as the Deputy Speaker. His dedication and hard work earned him a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in 2019, and he was re-elected for a second term in 2023. Currently, he chairs the House Committee on Navy, showcasing his commitment to national security.¹ ²

One of Gagdi's notable achievements is his sponsorship of key bills, including the Police Act (Amendment), the establishment of Federal University of Pankshin, Bill 2020 the Federal College of Education, Dengi-Kanam (Establishment) Bill, 2022. These efforts demonstrate his dedication to improving Nigeria's education and security sectors. Additionally, Gagdi has been instrumental in refunding examination fees to candidates in his constituency, highlighting his focus on supporting the youth.

SEN. DIKET PLANG

Diket Plang has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled understanding of the needs of the Plateau people. His representation has been marked by a profound commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that his voice is heard and considered in the decision-making process. He has indeed advocated for improving security in his constituency, particularly in areas plagued by crisis. As a dedicated representative, he’s worked tirelessly to ensure those affected receive the necessary attention from relevant authorities, such as NEMA.

Senator Diket Plang’s tireless efforts to improve the educational standard in Plateau State have been highly commendable. One of his notable achievements is sponsoring a bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Mining and Geo-Sciences Jos. This initiative is expected to provide opportunities for Plateau people most especially the youths to acquire specialized knowledge and skills in mining and geo-Sciences.

In addition Diket Plang has also been instrumental in improving the infrastructure of secondary schools in his constituency. He facilitated the construction of fences in some of these schools, creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for students.

Furthermore, Plang’s efforts to provide Solar Street Lights, to some schools, organization and communities have been praised. This initiative not only improves security but also provides a reliable source of lighting, which is essential for students who study late into the night

Aside from the facts that he has champion projects that have brought tangible benefits to the Plateau, leaving an enduring legacy of progress and development. His commitment to transparency and accountability has earned him the respect and trust of the people he represents.
