AS LATE DAVID SHIKFU PARRADANG, CGIS (RTD.), IS LAID TO REST

On 4th March, 2025, Nde David Shikfu Parradang mni, OFR, the 14th Comptroller General of Immigration Service (CGIS), died in mysterious circumstances. This bereavement is one of the most talked about in recent history. His death has continue to generate causative controversies.

The people are curious, and interested in the exact cause or causes of the deceased death, but who can provide objective, convincing and satisfactory explanation over the tragic incident? This question, and many others remained unanswered as this departed soul is laid to rest beyond the river of this life!

I wish the death could speak today, so that Late David Shikfu Parradang will address us in a World Press Conference that aims to explain the circumstances around his death. Unfortunately, he cannot talk to us what transpired between Monday, 3rd March, 2025 (afternoon), when he left home, and Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, when his resourceful but lifeless body was discovered!

Hear on earth, there may be no end to the desire to unearth the facts surrounding this death. The quest to know why might not be concluded anytime soon but, certainly, not forever!

Here is the matter: If Late David Parradang died of natural cause, then, so be it; but if someone or some persons have a hand in his death, then, posterity will judge accordingly!

It is a fact that all men must die someday, but no one deserves to die a dastardly or dishonourable death. It is saddening when respected, peaceful and decent people of Late David Shikfu Parradang's pecking order die controversially!

While alive, Late David Shikfu Parradang made his mark on the sands of time, and for many, he died a good man, and will be remembered for the good works he did!

With the demise of this profile in humility, loving welfarist, and ethical professional, humanity has, indeed, lost a rare gem, but that is the way of life!

God's soothing comfort upon the immediate family of the deceased, Ngas nation,  Plateau State, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), business/political  associated and, well-wishers.

Rest in Peace as your mourners jointly commit you to the womb of mother earth this Friday, 21st March, 2025, sir!

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF MEDIA, BASSA/JOS NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.

Our attention has been drawn to a recent Facebook video by Mr. "Osama Akpunono", in which he highlights certain infrastructural concerns within the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency. While we appreciate his concern and advocacy for development, it is necessary to correct the misconception regarding the responsibilities of the Legislative and Executive Arms of Government.

To be clear, the construction of Roads falls under the purview of the Executive Arm- both at the State and Local Government Levels. The role of the Legislative Arm, which Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago represents, primarily involves Lawmaking, Oversight, and Lobbying for projects that benefit Constituents.

Hon. Asama is fully aware of the poor state of roads in various parts of the constituency and has long been actively engaged in pushing for their construction. In fact, even before Osama’s video, Hon. Asama and other key Stakeholders had engaged both the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government on these issues. As a result of these efforts, the Plateau State Governor has agreed to commence the construction of these roads, with the project already gazetted at the Federal Level.

While we acknowledge and respect every citizen’s right to express their concerns, it is imperative that such advocacy be based on accurate facts. Misinformation and public indictments of officeholders without proper fact-checking can mislead the people and create unnecessary tensions. Constructive engagement, rather than incitement, is the most effective way to drive meaningful development.

We urge Osama and other content creators in Jos and Plateau State to verify information before making public statements that could misrepresent facts and mislead the public. Advocacy should be channeled through proper engagements with relevant officeholders, rather than through approaches that may be counterproductive to developmental efforts.

Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama remains fully committed to representing the people of Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that critical infrastructural and developmental needs are addressed.

THE URGENT NEED FOR CALM AND PEACE IN SHIMANKAR (MENKAAT), SHENDAM LGA

Plateau state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has expressed deep concern and displeasure over the recent breach of peace that unfolded in Shimankar (Menkaat), Shendam Local Government Area, which has unfortunately caused unnecessary tension within the community.

Government condemns in the strongest terms the violent clashes that occurred, underscoring that peace, unity, and dialogue are the only viable solutions to resolving conflicts.

I want to reiterate the Plateau State Government's unwavering commitment to upholding peace and security for all citizens, especially during such tense moments.

Acknowledging the swift response of law enforcement agencies and the traditional institutions in containing the situation, we are calling for even greater collaboration between community leaders, security agencies, and the public to prevent further escalation, thus the need to maintain peace, calm and restraint from all parties. We urge the people of the community to pursue peaceful resolutions to any disagreements instead of resorting to violence.

In line with the administration's " The Time is Now " vision under the leadership of Governor  Mutfwang, I want to emphasise that the state is focused on ensuring lasting peace and harmony, irrespective of religious or tribal differences.

Government is also assuring the public that security agencies have been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation into the root causes of the skirmishes and to ensure that those responsible for any breach of public peace are held accountable.

To this end,  Plateau citizens are to remain vigilant yet peaceful and to actively support all efforts to de-escalate the situation as the State Government is committed to fostering a peaceful coexistence for all citizens.

Trefoil Guild joins the fight Against Sexual Assault, Supports Sen. Natasha

The Trefoil Guild Nigeria is taking a firm stance against the abhorrent act of sexual assault. They are committed to creating a safer and more supportive environment for everyone, and are unwavering in their commitment to this cause. As part of their dedication to justice and empowerment, the Guild is lending its support to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a press release issued on Thursday 13th  March 2025, The Trefoil Guild Nigeria, under the leadership of esteemed Country Chair, Dr. Christie Toby, strongly condemns all forms of sexual harassment, intimidation, and gender-based violence in any sector of society, including the highest levels of governance.

She said ‘We express our deep concern regarding the recent developments involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate President, noting that the allegations of sexual assault and subsequent suspension raise serious questions about the protection of women's rights and dignity in our nation. ‘The six-months duration period of suspension and other penalties meted on Senator Natasha, including the inability of the Senate to listen to the nature of the sexual allegations case against the senate President raises questions on fair hearing on the matter’. She added.

Dr. Christie Toby further said ‘as an organization committed to the empowerment, protection, and advocacy for women and girls, we stand firmly with Senator Natasha and all women who suffer in silence due to societal pressures and systemic injustices. Our guiding principles and objectives emphasize courage, integrity, and the promotion of a safe and just society for all’.

We call on the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into these allegations. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. We call for a review of the suspension of Senator Natasha, and hearing of the sexual allegations issues she has brought to the senate, which should be televised live by the media, so as to give credibility and fairness on the hearing of case. She should be given a chance to prove her case.

We urge all women, civil society organizations, and concerned Nigerians to continue speaking up against gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination in all its forms, they should never succumb to any form of intimidation when it comes to speaking out against sexual harassment. We must break the culture of silence and speak out.

The Country Chair, affirmed that the Trefoil Guild Nigeria remains unwavering in its commitment to creating a society where women can live, work, and lead without fear. We stand together, and we stand strong.

This unified front demonstrates the Guild's commitment to positive change and highlights their support for those who champion important causes. It is their hope that together, they can help make a difference
