The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Plateau State Chapter, has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nanlong Daniel Gabyil, citing his leadership qualities, commitment to democratic governance, and contributions to legislative development in the state.

Addressing journalists at a press conference in Jos on Friday, the coalition Spokesman. Comrade Clement Koptai said, its decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and an assessment of the Speaker's performance since assuming office.

According to the coalition, Rt. Hon. Gabyil has provided stable leadership within the State Assembly, promoted legislative excellence, and upheld democratic principles and the rule of law.

The group commended the Speaker for fostering harmony among lawmakers, strengthening legislative oversight functions, and supporting policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Plateau residents.

The coalition also praised his accessibility and engagement with constituents, youth groups, women organizations, civil society actors, and community leaders, describing him as a responsive and people-oriented leader.

The CSOs further congratulated Gabyil on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recently concluded party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that his victory reflected the confidence party members and delegates have in his leadership capacity and public service record.

"As civil society organizations committed to promoting good governance, accountability, peace, and democratic development, we believe that leaders who have demonstrated competence and commitment to the people deserve recognition and support," the coalition stated.

The group called on political stakeholders, community leaders, youth and women groups, as well as citizens across the state, to support initiatives that promote peace, unity, and development.

It also urged political actors and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly and peacefully as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 elections, emphasizing that democracy flourishes where there is respect for differing views, adherence to the rule of law, and peaceful political participation.

The coalition concluded by reaffirming its confidence in Rt. Hon. Gabyil and encouraging him to remain committed to providing quality leadership and effective representation to the people of Plateau State.
