Addressing players from both teams during the opening match, Hon. Asama Ago emphasized the importance of the tournament as a platform for unity, discipline, teamwork, and positive youth engagement. He advised the players to approach the game with intelligence and sportsmanship, urging them to play smartly and avoid rough play in order to prevent injuries to themselves and their opponents.
“This competition is about catching our youths young and building them right. Football teaches discipline, respect, and cooperation. I encourage you all to play with passion, but also with responsibility,” he stated.
To officially mark the commencement of the tournament, Hon. Asama Ago was invited to perform the ceremonial kickoff, signaling the formal opening of the Youth Cup amid cheers from players and spectators.
