 KANAM LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL ADOPTS PROFESSOR SONNI TYODEN SOLE CANDIDATE FOR NEXT MONTH'S GUBERNATORIAL CONTEST IN PLATEAU STATE. 


Kanam Legislative Council has adopted Plateau State Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden as their sole candidate ahead of next month's primaries of the All Progressives Congress.

This followed a motion on the floor of the House moved by Council representing Dengi Ward, Shuaibu Abdullahi and seconded by the Majority Leader of the House at plenary presided by the House Leader, Abdulrahaman Bako.

Bako explained that the pedigree of the Deputy Governor is not in doubt and finds him the only aspirant to adopt as a candidate to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress in the state.


The Leader pointed out that Professor Tyoden has been obedient, loyal, trustworthy, and humble which are hallmarks of a quality leader. 

Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Dayyabu Garga who received the Symbol of Trust Captain, Professor Sonni Tyoden in his office said he has worked with the Deputy Governor closely since 2015 and finds him an embodiment of trust and loyalty and as well prayed that Governor Lalong reciprocates by supporting Tyoden to succeed him.

The Emir of Kanam, Muhammadu Muazu Babangida also received the Deputy Governor at his Palace in Dengi.

The Royal Father who narrated how he received University education under Tyoden's tutelage in the University of Jos said he is the only credible candidate in the Central Zone of the state to succeed Governor Simon Lalong and gave him his royal blessings to contest the primaries. 


The frontline Gubernatorial aspirant, Professor Sonni Tyoden in a remark separately to the Chairman of Kanam, the Emir, the Legislative Council, and a cross-section of party officials at the APC Secretariat at Dengi, said he was in the locality to solicit their votes and support ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress.

The Deputy Governor further noted that when given the mandate, he will consolidate on the gains achieved in the state so far. 

Professor Sonni Tyoden also paid similar visits to the Local authorities of Kanke and Pankshin as well as their Legislative Councils where he said, he is committed to taking the mantle of Leadership from Governor Simon Lalong, haven worked harmoniously for seven years, adding that he will not fail Plateau people if elected. 


Chairman, Kanke Local Government Council, Henry Jan represented by the Council's Secretary, Walbe Seth and his Pankshin counterpart, Kakmena Goteng assured Professor Sonni Tyoden of their unflinching support towards actualizing his aspiration to govern Plateau State. 

Similarly, the Leader of Kanke Legislative Council through the Deputy Leader Dakom Golau and his Pankshin counterpart assured Tyoden that he has the needed experience to govern the state and assured him of their support. 

The gubernatorial hopeful also addressed Party officials at Kanke and Pankshin and as well paid a visit to the District Head of Amper Nde Emmanuel Jatau to seek royal blessings and noted that despite the number of aspirants in his locality, credibility should be considered in choosing who emerges the flag bearer of the party.

Earlier, the Tarok Joint Traditional Council had given Professor Sonni Tyoden royal blessings to enable him to clinch the primaries of the All Progressives Congress.
