The wife of the leading governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Mrs Maureen Victor Dimka has identified lack of participation in decision making, worse rates that often go unpunished, and force marriages that are common in the society as some of the barriers that threaten the existence of women all over the world.
While felicitating with the women of Plateau State yesterday as they commemorate the International Women Day (2022 IWD), she said, the story of women's struggle for equality belongs to all who care about human rights.
"Our history of struggle and resilience to challenges is paved by brave women who choose to break through the barriers of gender inequality", she added.
Mrs Dimka also described Plateau women as peace builders who are building bridges across some more the most painful devides in the State.
"For us in Plateau State, we commemorate this International Women Day as a day to celebrate our women who bravely break those barriers in their conflicted communities."
She therefore, called on the authorities at all levels to help women to push open, the doors because they can make the difference as women are the community, they know what is going on in their midst and how to address it.
