FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION TO PARTNER ALGON AND SET DESK OFFICES IN PLATEAU STATE.

The Federal Character Commission and Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria,ALGON,Plateau State have agreed to set up desk offices and officers to man them across the Seventeen Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

This is to ensure synergy between the commission and citizens of the state as well as ease challenges faced by youths while accessing recruitment services across the country.

Initiator of the briefing and Commissioner Of the Federal Character Commission,FCC representing Plateau State,Stephen Jings said from records it has been discovered plateau citizens have been lagging behind when it comes to recruitment into Military,Para Military and other Organizations in the country.

Briefing Chairmen of the Seventeen,LGAs as well as the Ministry For Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs, the Federal Character Commissioner said reports have shown that plateau people have not been filling their quota when it comes to such recruitment opportunities.

Jings identified some of the reasons to include lack of adequate information and guidance on the required and recommended processes to access the opportunities.

He said that necessitated the idea of collaboration with the state through the LGAs which are the closest to the people so that coordination and mobilization can be done at that level with support from the Commission so that citizens can have it easier during the exercises.

Responding,Plateau State ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Shendam LGA,Miskom Alex Nantuam on behalf of other Chairmen who asked questions on certain areas thanked the Commissioner Federal Character Commission, Stephen Jings for the initiative saying this will address the myraid of employment issues that the LGA Chairmen had been expressing concern about.

He said the Chairmen are willing to nominate and have the desk officers trained so that it can bridge the gap between the citizens and the Federal Government in that regard.

The State Commissioner,Ministry For Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs,Sylvanus Tapun who was also part of the meeting applauded the synergy saying this will ensure a robust relationship between the two bodies with benefit to citizens.

The interface ended with a decision to have a technical session where the desk officers will be trained by the Federal Character Commission and the LGA Chairmen as key partners next week in Jos.
