PAULINE TALLEN CONGRATULATES ESE BRUME (BRONZE MEDALIST) AND BLESSING OBORUDUDU (SILVER MEDALIST)

Indeed, I feel proud to witness this historic moment in our Nation's history, when two young ladies; Ese Brume (bronze medalist) and Blessing Oborududu (silver medalist) placed Nigeria on the medal table at the on-going Olympics in Tokyo.

As the Minister of Women Affairs at this time, it was truly gratifying to watch as the green, white and green flag was being hoisted accompanied by the National Anthem.

Nigerian Women, no doubt make the difference in the search for the lost glory of this country and must be encouraged to take their rightful place in the drive towards National Development achieving the desired progress.

The success recorded by these young ladies is a true reflection of the resilience and determination of women to fill in the gaps in the restoration of our great country. This goes to reconfirm my belief that any meaningful gain to be made in this Nation in all spheres of National Development must redefine women’s participation.

I, therefore on behalf of Nigerian Women and the girl-child, wish to congratulate the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports; Sunday Dare for supporting our dedicated champions: Blessing and Ese to achieve this amazing feat. You have done us proud and we celebrate you.

While we eagerly await your return, I wish to encourage all the other athletes to rise up to the challenge of being counted as one of those who brought laurels to our Motherland- Nigeria.

And to the handlers of our athletes, we also say Bravo, you have done well.

Signed:

Dame Pauline K. Tallen, OFR, KSG

Honourable Minister of Women Affairs

God bless Nigeria Women!!!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
