Chief Pukat Shehu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos following the passing of Rev. Fr. Patrick Polit, describing the loss as a heavy blow to the Church and the Christian community at large.
In a statement released on Thursday, Chief Pukat expressed deep sorrow over the death of the priest, noting that his passing comes at a time when the world greatly needs men of God to help rebuild the moral and spiritual walls weakened by societal challenges. He described Rev. Fr. Polit’s exit as “painful,” not only to the Archdiocese but also to his family and all who were touched by his ministry.
Chief Pukat further conveyed his sympathy to the Archbishop of Jos, the clergy, the Catholic faithful, and the bereaved family. He highlighted the impactful roles Rev. Fr. Polit played during his lifetime in nurturing the Catholic faith and strengthening the spiritual lives of the people he served. These noble contributions, he said, were cut short unexpectedly.
He prayed for God’s comfort over the Church and all those mourning the departed priest, urging them to find strength in their faith during this difficult period.
“This loss leaves us heartbroken,” Chief Pukat stated. “But even in our collective grief, may God console every one of us and grant eternal rest to the soul of Rev. Fr. Patrick.”
