The vision of the founding fathers of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) is steadily taking shape, reflecting the collective commitment of leaders from the Region. This was evident during the high-profile gathering of key stakeholders from the North Central Geopolitical Zone, chaired by His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Chairman, North Central Governors' Forum.
The Strategic meeting, held on February 11, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, brought together Members of the National Assembly from the North Central States to deliberate on the commission’s objectives and ensure its full implementation. The leaders also took time to express their gratitude to the Federal Government and the Presidency for fast-tracking the assent of the bill establishing the NCDC, a crucial step toward addressing the Region’s evelopmental challenges.
Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago, House of Representatives Member for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, actively participated in the discussions, using the platform to extend his heartfelt appreciation to the Presidency, the North Central Governors, and fellow Members of the National Assembly for their dedication in making the commission a reality. He emphasized the timely significance of the NCDC, especially in tackling pressing issues such as Security, Job creation, and the Welfare of Citizens within the Region.
Furthermore, Hon. Asama urged the commission’s leadership to ensure an equitable distribution of developmental projects across all States in the North Central Zone, stressing that Plateau State—historically the Hub and Heartbeat of the North Central Region—should be given due consideration in Policy formulation and project implementation. He concluded by praying for divine guidance and continued progress for the North Central Region.
The establishment of the North Central Development Commission marks a historic milestone and holds great promise for the economic and social transformation of the Region. With the collective support of the Government, Stakeholders, and the People, the North Central Zone is on the path to greater Development and Prosperity.
