POBA EXECUTIVE INSPECT BURNT DOWN LABORATORY:OFFERS ADDITIONAL SALARY TO LONGEST SGT DIMKA "UPMEN" RTD FOR STILL SERVING THE SCHOOL.

National Executives of the Pankshin Old Boys Association, POBA have paid an inspection visit to their alma mater, Government College Pankshin to see for themselves the level of destruction by fire to its Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Labs which occurred less than two weeks ago.

President of POBA, Kenzy Ngupar speaking at an Exco meeting with the Principal, Management and Staff said the situation is a painful one because the institution apart from having students from Plateau State also handles the student exchange programme which has additional students from other parts of the country.

He said this is a monumental setback that requires the Government's quick intervention as students will require the Laboratories for their WAEC, NECO and other examinations.

He commended the school management for setting up an investigation team to unravel the cause of the fire and report back quickly.

Kenzy Ngupar thanked the Plateau State Government through the Hon.Commissioner For Secondary Education, Mohammed Nyalun who upon hearing the unfortunate incident, in less than twenty-four hours agreed to host the Leadership of POBA and School Management to find ways of addressing the situation for the good of most especially students.

He said that has shown the passion of the current administration under Governor Caleb Mutfwang to meet up with every sector of society.

Contributing, POBA General Secretary Kwaltamai Adamu said adequate protection must be given to Staff, Students and the facilities within the premises to wade off intruders who will scale the fence, by all means to carry out nefarious activities.

Principal of Government College Pankshin, Rottung Peter who took the team around assured no stone would be left out in knowing what caused the ugly incident.

He said students and staff are safe hence their thanks to God promising they will sustain the developmental tempo currently in the school.

Meanwhile, the National Leadership of the Pankshin Old Boys Association, POBA has announced a salary upgrade for its longest staff to have served, now retired but still offering services to the school, Sgt.Upmen Dimka.

President of POBA, Kenzy Ngupar who dropped the news to the delight of all staff and Upmen inclusive said there is no single student who passed through Government College Pankshin that does not have a story to tell about Upmen.

He saluted the disciplinary capabilities of the Rtd Sergeant and the Military skills he has imparted to students of the school.

Other exco members who shared their experiences said Sgt Upmen is a name within and outside the circles of Government College Pankshin.

Before now, the Rtd disciplined Sergeant was receiving the sum of N7000 only through the PTA until the new POBA Exco decided to bring in an additional N10,000 that will be paid directly by POBA Exco to his account to make up N17,000 for now pending any upward review.
