Plateau State University Bokkos Reaffirms Commitment to Staff Development

Plateau State University Bokkos has reiterated its commitment to the training and retraining of its staff to ensure optimal performance.

 Registrar of the institution, Yakubu Ayuba emphasized this commitment during a one-day training workshop for non-academic staff. 

The initiative according to Yakubu Ayuba aims to enhance both academic and administrative growth within the university.

"The recent introduction of a series of training programs for staff members, both within and outside the university, underscores our dedication to staff development," Mr. Ayuba stated. 

He expressed gratitude to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, for supporting such initiatives.

The training, which targeted staff members in the Executive Cadre, marked the second session organized for the Registry Department this year. The first phase, held last summer, focused on Administrative Officers from levels 7 to 16. This latest phase included Executive Officers from levels 6 to 13, responsible for managing university records.

The Registrar acknowledged the crucial role of executive officers in university operations, highlighting their responsibilities in effective record management. As the lead paper presenter, he emphasized maintaining high work ethics and a dedicated approach to duty.

Other presenters included, Mathias Mwandat, Principal Executive Officer at the Records and Documentation Unit, who discussed record and information security concepts, processes, and significance and  Dagau Nenrot Veronica, Administrative Officer at the same unit, who provided an overview of records management and its implications for institutional growth, advocating for digital literacy and a transition in record management practices.

The training featured an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants expressed appreciation to the Registrar and the university management for this initiative.

Rhoda Falam, Deputy Registrar, emphasized the institution's serious approach to record management and congratulated participants for the opportunity to share knowledge.

Effective Service Delivery: Librarian Emphasizes Self-Management, Time, Money, and Interpersonal Relations.

Time is an integral part of human life; hence, the need for effective management. Associate Professor Allahde Shehu, Librarian at Plateau State University, Bokkos, made this assertion in his paper presentation titled "The Wholistic Librarian: Cataloguing Traits of Self-Management for Effective Service Delivery" at the 14th Annual Conference of the Medical Library Association of Nigeria held at Kaduna State University.

Professor Alade emphasized the importance of time management, highlighting three key aspects,The essence of time,How to plan time and How to keep track of one's time.

He advised on creating a to-do list, prioritizing tasks, delegating functions, utilizing internet services, and avoiding procrastination. "When you draw your to-do list, you can keep track of time, plan your day, month, and year," he said.

On money management, Professor Alade stated, "It is what makes the world go round." He advised on the importance of savings, investments, and living below one's means.

In his PowerPoint presentation, Professor Alade discussed interpersonal relations, emphasizing its positive and negative aspects. He highlighted tips on making friends, strengthening networks, and avoiding fault-finding.

"Relationships are a state of connectedness with others," he noted. "Maintaining good relationships with colleagues, neighbors, and clients is crucial, as relationships can be top-bottom-horizontal."

Other topics covered included,Reducing interpersonal conflicts,Communication,Group dynamics,Learning, Crisis management,Health management and Self-esteem.Othets include Spiritual aspect and  Positive thinking.

His Majesty, the Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit has congratulated His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs on his 73 Birthday.

Discribing him as a  Royal Father who's style of leadership has set high standard and has been a continues example for others to emulate.

In a statement, the Ngolong Ngas, who is the Chairman of Pankshin Kanke Traditional Council, while joining other meaningful Nigerians in prayers for good health, Long life and prosperity, commended Da Buba for his fatherly disposition and pragmatism in handling matters at all levels. 

He expressed exceeding satisfaction and  confident with the Gbong Gwom Jos for his qualities  of contributions at the National Council  of Traditional Rulers, which by and large compliments his  selfless services to the State as it's Chairman. 

The Ngolong Ngas on behalf of his family, members of Pankshin Kanke Traditional Council and the entire citizens of his Chiefdom, wishes the Apex King and his family happy birthday celebration.

Transforming Plateau State University: Professor Shedrack Best's Administration Prioritizes Staff, Student Welfare and Infrastructure.

Acting Vice Chancellor Plateau state University Bokkos Professor Shedrack Best has reiterated his administration's  commitment not just to prioritize welfare of staff and students but also revamp the infrastructural deficit confronting the university.

Professor Best disclosed this while awarding contracts to various contractors and appreciating the continued support of Tertiary Education Fund.

 The contracts awarded were for the completion of the long abandoned Mass communication department building which was initiated in 2019 now awarded to EKORUDA NIGERIA LTD under the  2013-2016 and 2024 annual intervention by Tertiary Education Fund.

 Renovation of 600 capacity lecture theater awarded to BISHAM INVESTMENT LTD under the years 2021-2024 merged TETFUND projects, maintenance, Intervention and  Renovation of faculty of social science awarded to NICHODAV NIGERIA SERVICES LTD under the years 2021-2024 merged TETFUND projects maintenance.

Still others are Construction of students Hostel awarded to SAKALANTA INVESTMENT LTD under the year 2024 TETFUND special intervention and  Construction of 2.455km fencing with solar lights awarded to CAPITAL TECHNICAL SERVICES LTD under the year 2024 TETFUND special intervention for security infrastructure.

 Procurement of furniture and equipment awarded to RINBANG NIGERIA LTD under the year 2024 TETFUND annual intervention. 

Handing over the award letters to the contractors through the consultant, Professor Shedrack Best re-echoed the need to maintain quality and standard.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor Keziah Ayuba, the vice Chancellor informed the contractors, that standard will not be compromised.

 "We are really greatfull to the able leadership of the visitor in the person of Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his leadership quality,that have really helped the plateau state University to have a strong relationship with Tetfund and the NUC"

Professor Shedrack Best added "that's why we are here today to ensure that ,the university maintain that strong bond between itself and Tetfund and NUC".
As regards standard and quality, Professor Best said "you are going to give the university that face , that's required of the quality that we desire.....you will not disappoint us, when you begin the work at the university,give it you best.."

Professor Best noted that, in line with the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang's 'Time is now philosophy' Plateau state University is set for  excellence.
Lead consultant of the projects Benjamin Ijei assured of delivery while reminding the contractor to abide by the right channel of communication.
"I will like to advise the contractor to ensure quality work,we will not relent and will be very strict in our monitoring and evaluation,we will not give you any certificate without properly certified what you have done"

 Responding on behalf of the contractors, Greg Lawani of capital Technical services Ltd assured of quality work according to specifications.

The commencement and completion of the projects ranges from twelve weeks to twenty four weeks.

HIS MAJESTY NDE JIKA GOLIT THE NGOLONG NGAS CONDOLES SHEHU OF BORNO OVER FLOOD THAT RAVAGED COMMUNITIES.

The Ngolong Ngas Nde Jika Golit  has extended deepest condolences to His Highness, Shehu Abubakar, Ibn Umar Gabai EIkanemi   the Shehu  of Borno  and the entire Citizens both at home and in the diaspora, over the devastating flood that ravaged  communities in Maiduguri and environs, leaving destructions and heartache in its wake recently. 

The Ngolong Ngas who is the most Senior Traditional Ruler of the entire Kwararafa ethnic Nationalities on the Plateau in a Press statement signed  by his Media officer, Wukaska Bako Gowon stated that
Borno as  an ancestral home to  all Kwararafa Nationalities  has long held a place of deep reverence in the  hearts of the tribes  hence everybody is 
 profoundly moved by the widespread destructions caused by the tragic event.

He added  that  it's  a blow not only to the  residents in Borno State  but to all who share a connection to the Borno  legacy. 

While sympathizing, His Majesty, Nde Jika Golit the Ngolong Ngas has every confidence that the resilience and indomitable spirit of the Borno people will see them rise again from the disaster, stronger and more united than ever and appealed to God gifted individuals to support Government in it's effort towards assisting the affected communities. 

The Royal Father prayed that the souls of those lost in the tragic incident and others will rest in eternal peace.
