Hon. Silas Patrick, the Executive chairman of Jos South council, has applauded the organizers of the ongoing Kasuwan Plateau which is taking place Solomon Lar Amusements Park for creating a platform that showcases the rich indigenous agricultural produce, artwork, and technological innovations of the council.

This initiative aligns with the vision of his administration which focuses on agricultural revolution and rural development, aiming to boost local production, promote food security, and cut food imports.

Hon. Silas Patrick has demonstrated his commitment to providing excellent leadership and community development, anchor on promoting innovations and also providing the enabling environments for the developments local agriculture produced

He promised to key into the Kasuwan Plateau initiative in promoting sustainable economic rebirth, one of the key pillars of the councils point policy.

He noted that the council's participation and showcasing the indigenous agricultural produce, artwork, and technological innovations, Kasuwan Plateau helps achieve the councils vision of becoming a major player in food production for domestic and international consumption. This initiative also complements the council policies in promoting rural development and improving the lives of the rural populace, by boosting local production and promoting food security, Improving the lives of the rural populace through infrastructure development and service delivery, promoting economic growth and development in Jos South and Plateau State

Hon. Silas Patrick's endorsement of Kasuwan Plateau underscores his dedication to community development and his vision for a prosperous Jos South.

The Organizer of the Kasuwan Plateau Nanmua Banda explained that it is the special maiden edition of a mini expo that is organize by the pride of the Plateau Multipurpose cooperative society am of the life line global limited.

He noted that the purpose of the Kasunwa Plateau is to strictly promote the production and sales of made in Plateau product, noting that it has become necessary to show the world that Plateau state have a lot of products and potentials which seek to promote local production.

While commending the technological ingenuity of the students of Government Sciences and Technical College Bukuru, BUTECH, He said the product displayed at Kasuwan Plateau are produced and packaged locally.   

Hon. Silas Patrick Dung has pledged to support the Kasuwan Plateau Initiatives, affirming his commitment to promoting economic growth and development in Jos South Local Government Area.

This declaration aligns with his vision for Jos South's brighter future, built on excellent leadership, integrity, and dedication to the community ¹. As the newly elected Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung has already demonstrated his capacity for leadership, having emerged victorious in the recent elections .

As you step into this important task, I encourage you to embrace the responsibilities that come with it. Your leadership in formulating and implementing national policies will be vital in alleviating poverty and supporting vulnerable populations. The vital coordination of humanitarian aid and the development of impactful social welfare programs will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of many Nigerians.

President Tinubu appoints Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as acting Chief of Army Staff

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

 

Oluyede will act in the position pending the return of the indisposed substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

 

Until his appointment, Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the elite  Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, based in Jaji, Kaduna.

 

The 56-year-old Oluyede and Lagbaja were coursemates and members of the 39th  Regular Course.

 

He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1992, effective from 1987. He rose to Major-General in September 2020.

 

Oluyede has held many commands since his commissioning as an officer. He was Platoon Commander and adjutant at 65 Battalion, Company Commander at 177 Guards Battalion, Staff Officer Guards Brigade, Commandant Amphibious Training School.

 

General Oluyede participated in several operations, including the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) Mission in Liberia, Operation HARMONY IV in Bakassi, and Operation HADIN KAI in the North East theatre of operations, where he commanded 27 Task Force Brigade. 

 

Oluyede has earned many honours for his meritorious service in various fields of operations. These include the Corps Medal of Honour, the Grand Service Star, Passing the Staff Course, and Membership in the National Institute. 

 

Others are the Field Command Medal, the Field Command Medal of Honour, and the Field Training Medal. 

 

Oluyede also received the coveted Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award.

 

He is married and has three children.

PLASU Mourns with Butura Community over death of its Galadima Mr Bulus Mador.

Plateau State University Bokkos consoles with Butura community over its prominent son and Galadima Mr Bulus Mador,who was the university  community relations leader.

Until his death,Mr. Bulus Mador, the Galadima of Butura was  Chairman of the joint community relations committee for the university and the host community.Mr. Mador played a crucial role in resolving disputes between the university and the Butura community.

Leading the university delegation Professor Best described Mr. Mador's demise as a significant setback. 

"His passing has dealt a deep vacuum and caused a major setback in the university's ongoing infrastructural and academic expansion drive,"

He added ,"He spent the whole day holding meetings with university and community representatives on Saturday [October 26], and was supposed to continue the meeting the following day but passed away before the meeting time," 

The District Head of Butura, Engr. Dr. John Makwal Mallo, and a representative of the deceased's family, Danladi Mahanan, expressed gratitude for the university's solidarity and love, urging for sustained unity between the institution and its hosts.

Mr. Mador's legacy will be remembered as one of unity and cooperation between the university and its host community as his efforts will continue to inspire future generations.

The Kabwir District, under the leadership of PYC Chairman-Elect, Emmanuel Suwa Walbe, joins the nation in honoring General Nde Yakubu Gowon on his 90th birthday.

We salute General Gowon's remarkable leadership, vision, and dedication to Nigeria's unity and progress. His legacy continues to inspire generations.

PLASU RECEIVED RESOURCE VARIFICATION TEAM FOR FULL TAKE OFF OF NEW PROGRAMMES- MEDICAL SCIENCE INCLUSIVE.

The Acting Vice Chancellor Plateau State University Bokkos, Professor Shedrack has received two separate Resource Verification Teams that will pave way to kick starting new programmes in the institution.

This is an effort geared towards the expansion of new faculties that will put Plateau State University Bokkos among the committee of the fastest growing institutions in the country.

In his address to the various teams seprerately, the Acting Vice Chancellor pointed out that Bokkos,  where the University is situated is a serene and condusive environment for learning which most tourists often appreciate.

Professor Best acknowledges the rapid growth the university has witness over the years through the contributions of various successive administrators that started with three faculties to nine at a parmernent side.

The Acting Vice Chancellor who shared his vision for the university said, the expansion of programmes is part of his mandate and assured that his administration is poist in leaving legacies that can be remembered in the history of the institution.

He gave the abroximat number of students in the university as ten thousand and expressed his unflinching commitment in providing the enabling environment for Research Teaching and Community Service which is the core mandate of the institution.

The first team that were received by the Acting Vice Chancellor are the team from the faculty of Arts with the purpose of assessing the facilities to start Religious and Cultural Studies, which was led by Professor Ademola Ajayi from the University of Ibadan while Professor Abdulrahaman Ndanusa from Federal University Technology Minna,  Niger State, is for the Department of Statistics and the representative from the National Universities Commission.

Other teams who were received shortly were the team for the verification of School of Medical Sciences,  Phamachology Faculty among others.

The exercise is aimed at assessing the available facilities which is the first step that will pave way for accreditation which is validating the proposed programmes.
